We'll tap into the wisdom of author and columnist for The Washington Post, E.J. Dionne Jr. His new book, Our Divided Political Heart: The Battle for the American Idea in an Age of Discontent, contends that consensus will be impossible if a single national trait or idea dominates the unfolding American story.
